William and Elizabeth Turner
William and Elizabeth Turner were approved by the Foreign Missions Board for appointment to the former Soviet Union in 1990 while serving as missionaries to South Korea. Their initial missionary service began with their 1978 appointment to Korea. Prior to that, they were home missionaries in Oregon. In 1991, the Turners returned to the United States for Russian language study and deputation and arrived in Moscow in June 1993. In addition to his appointment as field superintendent to Russia and Ukraine and president of the Apostolic Bible Training Institute in Kiev, Ukraine, Turner serves as pastor of a church in Moscow and area coordinator for the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. He sees a great need for additional missionaries and AIMers in an area that crosses 11 time zones with a combined population of nearly 300 million.
